While performing Carnatic music, her mind gravitated towards Hindustani music seeking peace and meditativeness. The slow movement of Vilambit khayal steeped in melody, attracted her.

In the year 1993, Lalita was fortunate to be accepted by Padma Vibhushan Pt Jasraj as his disciple. She proved her mettle and a couple of years later started performing Hindustani classical of the Mewati Gharana.

Hindustani classical music made her aware of the importance of proper voice culture, heightened shruti awareness and melody.
